Legally or illegally, watching movies on your PC/media Jukebox is a common trend now. However most of the time these movies don't come with subtitles. Fortunately for subtitle lovers like myself, it's very simple to download subtitles via internet legally.

For people that are not familiar, the subtitle files is just a small text file which is usually 100kb or less. Most of the media players that we use nowadays supports it. (For more information on how to load subtitles please scroll to the end of this article)

1) Go to subscene.com

2) Type in the movie name to search.

     find subtitles

3) Click on the correct movie in search result.

     find subtitles 2

4) Look for your desired language and movie version (different versions have different timings etc.)

     find subtitles 3

5) Finally click 'Download Subtitle' to get your file. It is in zipped format so you will need to extract it before use.

     find subtitles 4

P.S. : Sometimes you may need to try a few different versions to get the right one. There are times when none will work too... in that case, if you happen to find one subtitle that's perfectly fine except that the wordings are out of sync from the conversation, please follow the guide The Simplest Way To Add Delay To Your Subtitle Files to get it fixed.

End Note:

If you're not sure where to start, I suggest installing K-lite first, that will make sure that your PC is able to play movie files with subtitle support. After that, just rename the subtitle file to be the same as your movie file and it will automatically load it when it plays.

Example:
- If your movie file name is TheShawshankRedemption.avi
- And your subtitle file name is ShawshankSubtitle.srt (few other formats are available)
- Rename your subtitle file to TheShawshankRedemption.srt. It is important that they are put side by side in the same folder, with the same file name.
- Play the movie and the subtitle will be loaded automatically.
